ECF-WESTSIDE DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITY CENTER
Website: http://www.ecf.net/
Ownership Type: NON-PROFIT
Details: ECF's Developmental Activity Centers (DAC's) offer a stepping stone to greater independence for adults with moderate to profound developmental disabilities. The DAC's offer full-day programming five days a week. Participants are generally referred to ECF by their local Regional Center. The program offers vital training in self-help, domestic, vocational, recreational, social, and community use skills. Participants learn about using public transportation, shopping in grocery stores, personal grooming, cooking, and ordering in a restaurant, with respect for each client's individual ability level. Practice on-site simulation of real-life settings and situations is then reinforced through actual community integration experiences. DAC's Adult Day program offers similar instruction with more intensive supervision for clients who require additional support, while the "Young at Heart" program offers recreational, health, and fitness activities specifically geared to senior citizens within the special needs population
