Adult Day Services offer individuals the opportunity to become active members of the community. Individuals learn work-related skills by engaging in regularly scheduled volunteer work, community service projects and other ventures. If needed, support is provided to better manage behavioral challenges. Each person's independence, social status and quality of life are greatly enhanced.

UCPLA’s Adult Day Services include innovative programs that enable people to connect with resources that strengthen independence, skill development, self-esteem, healthy living, and a sense of belonging to their community. Our focus is to promote meaningful opportunities for the people we partner with as they carve out their adult lives; this includes an emphasis on community involvement, independence and personal choices, access to innovative health services, individualized training and skill building, and increased options for continuing education, job placement and socialization. Our staff training and services are directed towards supporting each person to discover his/her own voice and values. UCPLA incorporates the choices and preferences of each person receiving services with the needs of partnering businesses, agencies and community groups to foster natural opportunities for successful integration and inclusion.

ECF's Developmental Activity Centers (DAC's) offer a stepping stone to greater independence for adults with moderate to profound developmental disabilities. The DAC's offer full-day programming five days a week. Participants are generally referred to ECF by their local Regional Center. The program offers vital training in self-help, domestic, vocational, recreational, social, and community use skills. Participants learn about using public transportation, shopping in grocery stores, personal grooming, cooking, and ordering in a restaurant, with respect for each client's individual ability level. Practice on-site simulation of real-life settings and situations is then reinforced through actual community integration experiences. DAC's Adult Day program offers similar instruction with more intensive supervision for clients who require additional support, while the "Young at Heart" program offers recreational, health, and fitness activities specifically geared to senior citizens within the special needs population
