Caring Together Adult Day Care has been providing services in the Tuscaloosa area since 2007. It is a day program to enhance quality of life for adults with memory disorders who are no longer able to care for themselves. The eligible memory disorders include Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Pick’s, Huntington’s, brain tumors, stroke, alcoholism related, and trauma induced dementias. Caring Together is a cooperative effort between Caring Congregations and the Tuscaloosa Housing Authority. It is a social setting day care to provide a safe and stimulating environment for all of the clients participating. Daily activities include exercise, art, games, crafts, story and reminiscing time, parties, and many more. Caring Together is located adjacent to Hay Court on 18th Street. There is a monthly fee of $300 per client. The Center is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am until 2:00 pm. Lunch and all activities are included in the fee. |

Caring Days, an adult day care center, bridges the gap between independent living and highly restricted care. It provides a secure and happy environment for our clients and carefully planned activities to keep them using their cognitive, language, social, and motor skills. In 1994, members of First Presbyterian Church recognized the need for adult day care for those experiencing memory loss. Currently, 21 congregation of various denominations work together to provide this program. They incorporated into a group called Caring Congregations. Their first project, Caring Days Adult Day Care, opened on March 10, 1997. In 1998, at the age of one, Caring Days won the prestigious LOTUS Award. This award is presented annually by the Women's Committee of Spain Rehabilitation Center in Birmingham, Alabama. It is given in recognition of outstanding contributions toward improving quality of life for people with disabilities. In 2000, Caring Days proudly became an agency of United Way of West Alabama. The West Alabama area has been very generous and supportive of the adult day care. Many people and organizations have helped to provide quality care for our clients as well as support and respite for our caregivers.
