Details: Reflections Geriatric Services is part of McIntosh Trail Community Services Board. Funding for the program comes from grants, client fees and donations. Alzheimer's services were begun in 1991 and expanded in 1995 and 1998. Two of our Alzheimer's Day Programs have been highlighted nationally as models for mobile day care and have been featured regularly in presentations given by the Georgia Office of Aging. An RN directs the Alzheimer's Day Program which is staffed with an activity therapist and social services technician. The primary goal of the Alzheimer's Day Program is to improve the quality of life of the client and caregiver while delaying the need for nursing home placement. The program is designed to address individual needs in a highly structured, closely supervised, protective environment in an effort to help each client maintain an optimum level of independent functioning. Social interaction and emotional support are provided for the client while the caregiver receives much needed respite time. Client services include health monitoring, therapeutic activities, light exercise, personal care, individual and group socialization, hot lunches and snacks.
