The Cambridge House Enrichment Center is designed to provide innovative learning and creative services to adults. We enrich the lives of adults with memory and judgment loss, specializing in high-quality compassionate care to members of our community with Alzheimer's disease and related dementia and other functional disabilities. The primary goals of Cambridge House are to provide relief to the caregiver, maintain the quality of life for our guests, and delay nursing home placement. This program is designed to address individual needs in a highly structured, closely supervised, and protected environment. Every effort is made to help each client maintain an optimum level of independence. Social interaction and emotional support are provided for the client while the caregiver receives a needed respite. Cambridge House of Thomaston is a Social/Memory care adult day program that is located at 215 East Gordon Street, Thomaston, GA 30286. The adult day center is open at 7:00 am and closes at 5:00 pm. Participants are provided breakfast from 7:30-8:30, a hot lunch at 12:30 and a healthy snack at 3:00. An extensive exercise program that includes weights, balls, movement and oxygen therapy is offered daily at 12 to enforce balance and range of motion. The weekly activity program incorporates arts and crafts, music therapy and cognitive strengthening to enhance participants' person-centered well-being. Field trips to local events and restaurants are incorporated into the monthly activity calendar. |

Reflections Geriatric Services is part of McIntosh Trail Community Services Board. Funding for the program comes from grants, client fees and donations. Alzheimer's services were begun in 1991 and expanded in 1995 and 1998. Two of our Alzheimer's Day Programs have been highlighted nationally as models for mobile day care and have been featured regularly in presentations given by the Georgia Office of Aging. An RN directs the Alzheimer's Day Program which is staffed with an activity therapist and social services technician. The primary goal of the Alzheimer's Day Program is to improve the quality of life of the client and caregiver while delaying the need for nursing home placement. The program is designed to address individual needs in a highly structured, closely supervised, protective environment in an effort to help each client maintain an optimum level of independent functioning. Social interaction and emotional support are provided for the client while the caregiver receives much needed respite time. Client services include health monitoring, therapeutic activities, light exercise, personal care, individual and group socialization, hot lunches and snacks. |
