HAFriends also offers a needed respite for caregivers. Upon arrival each day, participants are encouraged to help the staff plan the day ahead by choosing specific activities they wish to enjoy. Furthermore, each participant is assigned a task that they will be responsible for during the day. Typical tasks include; preparation of lunch, lunch set up, general clean-up, gardening, and more. New this year, once a participant masters a task, they will be encouraged to train another participant on that task! Before and after lunch, clients participate in a variety of activities including social studies discussions, art, music, exercise, and much more! Each day, we fill the seats on our bus and venture into the community to enjoy a local treasure (i.e. exercise facilities, parks, museums, restaurants, etc.) or to volunteer (Westminster Neighborhood Ministries, Meals on Wheels, collection/recycling of printer cartridges, etc.). HAFriends also enjoy delivering handmade thank you notes and gifts to many of our corporate donors.
