Ownership Type: NON-PROFIT
Days Open: MON - FRI
Normal Business Hours: 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Details: During the late 1980's Reverend Marcus G. Wood, pastor of this Church, read an article in "The Sun" paper about the need for adult clay care services in West Baltimore and the possibility of the church addressing this situation. This ultimately led to the establishment in 1991 of the Providence Adult Day Care Center, Inc., a separate nonprofit 501 (c)(3) entity from the church with its own Board of Directors. The construction of the Providence Adult Day Care Center was completed in November 1996 and the first participants were enrolled in June 1997. This one million-dollar state-of-the-art adult day care center provides health services, social and recreational activities within a comfortable, home-like setting for the community's most treasured citizens, the elderly. There is a fully equipped health suite where routine medical care is provided, along with administering daily medications to those who need these services. In addition to providing breakfast, a hot lunch, and a snack, there are craft classes, sing-a-longs, and trips to senior fairs and craft shows. For family convenience, transportation is provided to and from the center.
