Details: Samaritan Place, now in its 13th year of providing shelter and support for very-low income seniors, is one of 12 or fewer such programs in the United States. Samaritan Place is, in fact, the nation’s only program offering a complete continuum of care, from emergency to long-term housing, for this population. Seniors come to the program through traditional homeless shelters, hospitals, Adult Protective Services and other community resources. Basic eligibility criteria are: age 55 and older; not a threat to self or others; ambulatory; and able to manage most daily activities with minimal assistance.
