Details: The Salinas Senior Day Program opened their doors in January 2003 in response to the growing number of senior adults with intellectual disabilities residing in Salinas and the Salinas Valley over the age of 50 years. Emphasis is on providing social and recreational opportunities within the community and at the program site. Seniors in this program are also given choices to recreate rather than work or be associated with work related issues. Some of the senior program activities include having lunch and playing bingo at the Salvation Army, visits to the Steinbeck Library, shopping, arts and crafts activities, a daily exercise program games music and movies. The Salinas Senior Day Program operates at a staffing ratio of 3 consumers to 1 staff member.
