Show, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit founded in 1976, serves as an employment training center for adults with developmental disabilities and offers after-school care for students and children with developmental disabilities. Recycling is the basis for Show’s vocational program. Show opened its recycling center in the early 1990’s and contracted as a processor with The M.E.T. in 1993. Show operates a curbside program in the city of Sapulpa and serves over 100 commercial accounts including Tulsa Community College campuses, BOK Technology Center, Boulder Tower, Meridian Tower and Sapulpa Public Schools. A recent partnership with Waste Management (and PepsiCo) expands our route to ONEOK Field, ORU, and OSU at Tulsa with many more “Dream Machines†to come! The merits of the program are two-fold: providing meaningful work for adults with developmental disabilities, and bettering the environment through recycling. Oklahoma DHS states as of June 2011, over 6,000 people remain on the waiting list for services such as ours. These people want to work and we want to provide a place to work.Totals Are In! OKFD is a 54-year-old not-for-profit social services organization that provides high quality and activity-oriented adult day health services for adults with developmental disabilities in central Oklahoma, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Our mission is to improve the quality of life of developmentally disabled central Oklahoma adults by providing them with high quality and transformative learning programs and services that include life skills training, recreational activities and socialization opportunities in a safe, caring and compassion-focused environment. Our vision statement is important, too. It reads: We envision a caring and involved community, where developmentally disabled adults are embraced by their fellow citizens as unique and special individuals who require easy access to and the financial support necessary for participating in positive educational programs that help them to realize their fullest potential possible. Our focus is on providing a safe, friendly and happy environment, where we work one-on-one with clients to improve their health and well being through activities that encourage the attainment of basic life skills, foster socialization with others and promote recreational activities and exercise. Many of our clients have severe functional impairments and require hands-on and experienced staff team care for tasks that include toileting, tube feeding, diaper changing, ostomy/catheter care and medication oversight. The average age of our clients is 40, and the mental age range is from 3 months to 13 years. What makes us unique is that we accept individuals other organizations cannot or will not accept. We are licensed by the Oklahoma State Department of Health and Department of Human Services for 96 clients. To qualify for enrollment an individual must be 18 years of age or older. |

The Adult Day Health Center provides special care for adults who are unable to care for themselves for extended periods of time in a protective group setting enabling them to maintain or improve their ability to remain independent.
