Easter Seals provides choices when a loved one needs assistance with daily living, and does not prefer full-time nursing home care. Easter Seals provides a safe group environment with coordinated health and social services. Like all Easter Seal services, the adult day care services are comprehensive and individualized to meet each client's needs, family-focused to meet each family member's concerns, outcome-oriented with a goal of enhanced independence, and use public support in a cost-effective manner. The adult day care program offers a break for family caregivers responsible for a relative who is unable to function independently, but does not require 24-hour nursing care. Participants in the program may have: a physical disability, a mental impairment, a need for special assistance with activities of daily living or have recently returned from a hospital visit. Easter Seals provides a safe group environment with coordinated health and social services. Center-based care may prevent, postpone, or reduce the use of a nursing facility. Christiana Care VNA provides a wide variety of services throughout the community, including home care, private-duty services and adult day care. Daily care is available at the Evergreen Alzheimer's Day Center Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Daily care allows caregivers to enjoy some needed time off with the assurance that their loved one is in the good hands of trained VNA professionals. Our staff includes a music and recreational therapist who provide activities, crafts and games that help to maximize function, promote independence, reduce stress and build self-confidence. Morning snacks, lunch and afternoon snacks provide a nutritionally balanced diet and a time for sharing and socializing. Personal care and grooming help to promote a sense of well-being while reinforcing self-care. Our program director, a registered nurse, provides caregivers with helpful hints and strategies for managing patients while at home. A diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia is a prerequisite for admission to the Evergreen Center. Fees are based on a sliding scale according to household income. |
