Point of Hope offers specialized facility based programs for persons with severe and profound intellectual disabilities (mental retardation), autism, ABI/TBI, neurological impairments and those with special medical needs. Each individual’s program is designed to meet their unique needs, interests and abilities. Treatment plans are tailored to each individual’s goals based on the recommendations prescribed in their Essential Lifestyle Plan (ELP) and on their personal choices. Point of Hope’s Day Programs allow participants to experience their interests in personal life skill activities through educational, vocational, leisure and recreational interests. These activities include but are not limited to: music therapy, arts and crafts, media viewing, games (board, card, Wii), sensory stimulation activities and activities designed to maintain and develop communication and fine and gross motor skills. |

New Horizon Adult Day Center offers day programming and personal care services in a safe, homelike environment for individuals 18 years of age and older who have physical or cognitive impairments and who require ongoing supervision and support. The program affords participants an opportunity for socialization, while providing family members with respite from their ongoing caregiving responsibilities. The program features activities which are designed to help participants improve or maintain daily functioning. In addition, snacks and lunch are provided. New Horizon is operated by the Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities (DSAAPD) and is located in the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna, Delaware. |
