(SVS) was founded in 1977 as a small after school program for teenagers with autism in Manhattan Beach. In the 35 years since its establishment, SVS has grown to serve over 4000 individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities throughout California. We offer a wide variety of services to meet the needs and interests of a diverse population. Although large in scope with our 75 locations, each individual SVS program site has its own distinctive ambience. This allows each facility the opportunity to customize its activities to the interests and talents of the individuals it serves and to make use of the resources available in its community. As SVS continues to grow, we always welcome comments and suggestions about our programs and how we might better serve our consumers and the community around us. Our mission is to assist each program participant to reach their full potential through our residential, supported living , vocational, and social programs. Adult Day Program (ADP): A pre-vocational program for forty-two developmentally disabled adults with behavioral and emotional disorders. This behavior modification program addresses the reduction of behaviors that prevent successful participation within standard vocational programs and work settings. The program prepares the participants with the necessary skills to use existing community services and to move from this highly structured community day treatment program to a less restrictive one.

(FHAR), is a charitable, non-profit social service agency serving persons with developmental disabilities such as mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and/or autism. Incorporated in 1971, FHAR has grown and evolved into a recognized leader and innovator in the developmental disability service delivery system. ESS is a community-based day program that emphasizes independent living and vocational skills acquisition. The program provides employment opportunities and community volunteer experiences for 60 consumers. The participants are integrated into the work force and then continuously supported and supervised by FHAR staff to ensure successful and long-term placement.

We strive to achieve this mission in all aspects of our services. B and L Day Program is located in San Mateo, CA and serves adults with developmental disabilities. Our curriculum is basic life skills which encompass training in all aspects of day to day activities and promoting independence. Our facility provides basic academics for consumers who choose to learn and our taught subjects suitable to each consumerâ€™s needs. We also provide a variety of consultants to enhance our services such as but are not limited to the following: Psychologist, Music Therapist, Adult Education Teacher and Dietician.
