Adult day programs teach skills including mobility training, verbal and non-verbal communication, self-help skills and community integration to adults with developmental disabilities. The adult day program at UCP, known as the Adult Growth Experience Program, or AGE, gives developmentally disabled adults the chance to increase their independent living skills. UCP’s Adult Growth Experience (AGE) program works with adults with significant cognitive disabilities due to conditions including autism, epilepsy, intellectual disability, Down syndrome or cerebral palsy. In addition, individuals with physical and/or behavioral challenges can also benefit. Adults participating in UCP’s Adult Growth Experience program learn daily living skills, verbal and non-verbal communication and community integration and awareness. By serving adults with cerebral palsy and other developmental disabilities, UCP’s Adult day program focuses on building independent living skills through integrated community experiences. Activities include basic instruction in computer skills, practical math and reading, mobility training and functional living skills.
