North Valley Services is dedicated to promoting opportunities for persons with disabilities in the environment of their choice. Our goal is to work together with our clients in an atmosphere designed to maximize personal growth and development by utilizing each individual’s strengths. A positive environment is maintained that is responsive to the individual needs of each person. The highest value is placed on human dignity and respect. We offer work development, training and assessment, transportation, day activity centers, and residential care for developmentally disabled adults. We service Tehama, Glenn and Lassen Counties. Utilizing a quiet comfortable atmosphere the A/C West program caters to those individuals that prefer a little slower paced day. The site features a beautiful yard with a view of the famous Growney Ranch with horses lining up for attention at the fence. As with all NVS programs individuals choose what activities they will participate in supported by trained and caring staff. A vast array of in-house activities have been developed including self advocacy, sign language, learning self-help skills, culinary activities, academic skills, with activities constantly being developed to assist individuals in attaining their personal goals. Many community activities are available, like bowling, community events, shopping, lunch out, and many more. These outings can be accessed on a daily bases. Our individuals have a choice of various vocational activities. There are laundry duties, recycling paper, sweeping sidewalks for businesses on Main Street just to name a few. All vocational activities are paid work for our individuals in the program. Our staff look forward to providing a pleasant environment with customized support and supervision. |

It is a belief at BSS that agency staff and individuals served work together in an atmosphere designed to promote positive growth and development by utilizing individual self-directed choice of daily activities. Trained supportive staff maintain a positive environment that is responsive to the needs of each person as these individuals learn to govern themselves in a productive manner. Emphasis is placed on the acquisition of positive behaviors to decrease any undesired behaviors individuals may have developed. Utilizing a variety of in-house activities including academic, sign language, self-help, culinary, household skills, as well as activities designed to assist individuals meet their personal goals. Daily access to the community provides plenty of opportunities for individuals to be part of the activities that take place in the surrounding city and county. As with all NVS program sites, we are always working on vocational training. Individuals that might not be ready for competitive employment have the opportunity to train and work at a variety of jobs to develop the skills needed for community employment. Job safety and learning a positive work ethic are among some of the skills acquired through this training. The ultimate goal is for the person to be able to participate in community competitive employment. |

Individuals enter the Center to find an active vibrant program full of energy. Individuals are engaged in various activities while being assisted as needed by support staff. Choice (or the ability for a person to advocate for themselves) is how individuals decide what activities they will participate in. This choosing of activities occurs on a daily basis and includes, sign language, safety, photography, self advocacy, community awareness activities, vocational opportunities, arts and crafts just to name a few. Community activities occur daily with trips such as: swimming, fishing, and lunches, the Rodeo is always a favorite, visiting historical sites in the surrounding communities, or any other public event. As with all NVS program sites, we are always working on vocational training.
