Ventura County Adult Day Health Care is a community-based program providing a variety of medical, therapeutic, rehabilitative and recreational programs and services for adults 18 years and older. We provide a safe and secure environment for adults to spend time under the caring supervision of experienced staff. Participants receive skilled nursing care, social services, therapeutic activities, meals (breakfast and lunch) and transportation. Physical, occupational, as speech therapies are available, as well as dietary and psychiatric consultation. The main goal of our program is to maintain, and/or improve the quality of life. Research has shown that participants who receive adult day health care services have less admits into emergency rooms, hospitals, and skilled nursing facilities. Participants who attend regularly are more stimulated and are monitored and supervised creating a safer and happier environment for each individual. |

Among Friends Adult Day Health Care (ADHC) Center opened its doors as the first licensed ADHC facility in Ventura County on March 19, 2001. Since its opening, Among Friends ADHC remains at the forefront of quality services and the largest ADHC in Ventura County. We provide enjoyable, supervised activities, medical care, great hot nutritious meals, and door-to-door transportation— all in a warm, home-like setting of Among Friends ADHC Center. We offer a daytime program with combination of nursing, rehabilitative and psychosocial services in a setting that is enjoyable, emotionally supportive and informal. It brings patients together in a group to promote socialization, provide peer support and strengthen patient self-esteem and motivation for self-care. Our mission is to provide the best quality care to our patients. |

We also have a senior citizens program. Vocational Skills Services is managed by a Board of Directors comprised of interested members from the community. The program is free of charge to those who qualify. Program participants do not need to pay for activities unless specified. VSS has its own vehicles that can transport individuals to activities if needed. We offer free snacks and small lunches for those in our program and many of our staff members speak Spanish. |
