The Watkins VITAL Care Program is a community-based life skills transition and employment training program for the 22 - 64 age group. Our program is specifically designed for adults with a history of moderate to severe autism, severe intellectual disabilities, or other challenging conduct issues. The program is intended to service those individuals at the more severe end of the diagnostic profile and may still require 1:1 adult assitance for behaviors, their safety, and the safety of others. In general the individual consumers in this program are non-verbal or limited verbal and may have a various levels of communication skills, such as signing, limited vocal/verbal, use of picture communication and/or augmentative communication devices programmed for basic communication needs in varying community settings. The continued intervention of language and communication skills is considered vital to integration in community settings. Close coordinationg of each individuals' program witll be expected of parents and caregivers. Self-determination is a major consideration for consumers in our program.

Dr. Alicia Elliott has spent over 35 years working with children with autism, as well as children diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Delay (PDD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Dyslexia, and other learning disabilities. Dr. Elliott has maintained a private practice since 1983 and in 1997 with the late Leslie K. Watkins, founded the Elliott Institute, which has served over 130 children, adolescents and young adults in its school and clinic.
