Details: North Valley Services is dedicated to promoting opportunities for persons with disabilities in the environment of their choice. Our goal is to work together with our clients in an atmosphere designed to maximize personal growth and development by utilizing each individual’s strengths. A positive environment is maintained that is responsive to the individual needs of each person. The highest value is placed on human dignity and respect. We offer work development, training and assessment, transportation, day activity centers, and residential care for developmentally disabled adults. We service Tehama, Glenn and Lassen Counties. It is a belief at BSS that agency staff and individuals served work together in an atmosphere designed to promote positive growth and development by utilizing individual self-directed choice of daily activities. Trained supportive staff maintain a positive environment that is responsive to the needs of each person as these individuals learn to govern themselves in a productive manner. Emphasis is placed on the acquisition of positive behaviors to decrease any undesired behaviors individuals may have developed. Utilizing a variety of in-house activities including academic, sign language, self-help, culinary, household skills, as well as activities designed to assist individuals meet their personal goals. Daily access to the community provides plenty of opportunities for individuals to be part of the activities that take place in the surrounding city and county. As with all NVS program sites, we are always working on vocational training. Individuals that might not be ready for competitive employment have the opportunity to train and work at a variety of jobs to develop the skills needed for community employment. Job safety and learning a positive work ethic are among some of the skills acquired through this training. The ultimate goal is for the person to be able to participate in community competitive employment.
