Easter Seals Wyoming’s community-based program for adults with acquired brain injuries provides a person-centered approach to rehabilitation. Located in Sheridan, the program is designed to encourage each participant’s active involvement in their recovery process. The ABI (acquired brain injury) program is open to individuals ages 21 and older from across Wyomingwho qualify for services under Wyoming’s Medicaid Home and Community-Based Waiver for Acquired Brain Injury. Based on an individual’s needs and desires, our staff works with him or her to develop personal plans and goals. These typically involve enhanced physical and emotional fitness, social and behavioral development, home and community mobility, communication and cognitive skills, vocational skills and strategies for independent living. While participants make choices about their activities and goals, our staff’s support and hands-on involvement provide the structure and accountability participants need to experience consistent growth and success. Because our participants are motivated to take an active role in rehabilitation they experience many positive results, including: Improved self esteem; Increased self determination; Greater independence; Increased community involvement; Accelerated growth through personal experiences
