Downtown Clusters Geriatric Daycare Center 926 11th Street NW Washington DC 20001 (202) 347-7527 |
The Downtown Clusters Geriatric Daycare Center was established in 1975 at a time when seniors were being stripped of their identification and left in hospitals and on the streets because the burden of caring for them was too great for families and friends. The Center is a private 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by law. Our award winning, city-wide, person-centered program has been selected as one of the best in the Washington Metropolitan area by the Catalogue for Philanthropy-DC for 2013-2014 for the third time. In 2012, the Center was selected and featured as a "Community Hero" by WUSA-TV, Channel 9. As an adult day health program, the Center is responsible for efficiently and effectively planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing programs to develop a service delivery system that ensures a continuum of care that helps the elderly to age in place. It also serves as a catalyst for change; a clearinghouse for obtainable resources; and identifies gaps in services and provides linkages and coordination of service delivery for seniors and their families. |
