Generations 267 Jenckes Hill Road Smithfield RI 02917 (401) 725-6400 |
Generations opened its doors in 1999 in it’s former North Providence, RI location. The program was opened in a two-story historical building, circa 1930, which was formerly a parochial school. Throughout its lifespan, the company has undergone numerous major renovations and expansions to keep up with its ever-changing needs and fantastic growth. The original building housed an open dining room, various break-out classrooms, an arts and crafts area, computer room and Movie Theater, with nursing stations and administrative offices set in a horseshoe around the common area. Over the last thirteen years, Generations has grown into a thriving community, filled with laughter, learning, perseverance, and most importantly, lots more participants! In July of 2011, Generations completed its most ambitious project to date – the build-out and relocation of its new home in Smithfield, RI. With nearly 30,000 square feet of space, the state-of-the-art facility includes an open dining room, spacious physical and occupational therapy suites, a complete commercial-style classroom kitchen, bright and airy common spaces and classrooms, fully equipped gym/exercise room, walking track, 110†projection screen TV movie theater and so much more! Generations provides services and supports to a variety of individuals, including people with mental illnesses, developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury and other cognitive impairments. Our supports are tailored to meet the specific needs of each person, and to assist each individual to be as independent as possible. For those individuals with developmental disabilities, Generations prides itself on assisting each person to live a meaningful, safe and good quality life. The goal of Generations is to enrich each person’s life, as well as build upon their individual skills, knowledge and unique abilities and strengths.
