The Alzheimer Program recognizes and attends to emotional and intellectual needs as well as physical. The Alzheimer Unit operates Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Participants may attend half days or as many days each week as they wish. The program is supervised by specially trained staff that strives to meet the individual needs of each participant. The Alzheimer Daycare Program provides respite services for caregivers and offers varied activities, which include group discussion, art therapy, exercise, music, speakers, and spiritual groups. Medical monitoring and counseling for the participant and caregiver are available. A complete well-balanced meal is served at noon with special diets available if ordered by the physician. Morning and afternoon snacks are served daily. Everyone is encouraged to provide his or her own transportation. Cost for attendance at the Rotary Adult Daycare Alzheimer Program is based on a private cost per day. Physical, occupational, and speech therapy are available at the Mansfield Memorial Homes Nursing Center by physician order. The cost and treatment is separate from the Alzheimer Program. In case of an acute medical emergency, the participant's family and/or physician will be called. Whenever possible, the Nursing Center will provide short-term, interim emergency care until the person can be moved to the proper treatment source. |
