Twin Palms Center provides a unique setting for individuals diagnosed with developmental delays, by offering a rich social and academic learning environment. The Twin Palms experience gives these adults the opportunity to become active participants at home and in their communities. The MISSION of Twin Palms Center is to improve the quality of life for individuals diagnosed with developmental challenges. We also dedicate this program to educating our community on the talents and abilities that these individuals possess. Our GOAL is to encourage individual growth, development, and socialization in a supportive environment. We will accomplish this objective while treating our clients with the dignity and respect that they seek and deserve. Boca Raton Society For The Disabled, a 501(C)(3) Corporation d/b/a Twin Palms Center For The Disabled, was founded in 1968 by members of Soroptimist International of Boca Raton/Deerfield Beach and parents. They saw the need for a structured environment for their adult children diagnosed with developmental disabilities who had nowhere to go for socialization and on-going education once they outgrew the public school system. Throughout its forty year history, Twin Palms Center has continued to expand its facilities and programs to better serve its clients and the community. Clients are ambulatory and are able to care for their own personal needs. |

MEMORY & WELLNESS CENTER AT FLORIDA ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY 777 GLADES ROAD, BLDG. AZ-79 BOCA RATON FL 33431 (561) 297-0502 |
The Louis and Anne Green Memory and Wellness Center is a unique Center of the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing and is grounded in the College's concept of caring. Our mission is to meet the complex needs of persons with memory disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease, and their families through a comprehensive array of services, compassionate and innovative programs of care, research and education. Our intention is to treat each person with dignity and respect, enabling each client to function at his or her personal best and to maximize quality of life. In addition to service, the Center conducts research on best practices in care for persons with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders and caregiver support. We also provide practicum experiences for students of nursing, medicine, social work, exercise science, communication disorders, health administration and other disciplines. We aim to understand "what matters most" to each client and family and to respond to individual needs in a caring way. The Center opened in November 2001 with a start-up grant from the National Institute of Health, Administration on Aging. The Center moved into its new building in December 2004. Funding for the facility came from a very generous gift from Louis and Anne Green which was matched by the State of Florida. The building was specifically designed to house a diagnostic clinic, a dementia-specific adult day center, counseling and educational activities and research activities. In 2005 the Memory and Wellness Center became a State-designated Memory Disorder Clinic under the State of Florida's Alzheimer's Disease Initiative. As such, the Center participates actively in the State network of 15 Memory Disorder Clinics. |
