Throughout the day, there are engaging activities including music, exercise, socializing, trivia, discussion groups, walking program, crafts and more which providing participants the opportunity to use their skills in meaningful occupations throughout the day. Our day program hours are 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. However, participant schedules are arranged according to individual and family needs. A hot lunch and two snacks are provided under the direction of our registered dietician consultant. Individual nutritional needs will be accommodated if possible. We respect the dignity of our participants and provide them care and compassion. We are committed through our program of health, social and therapeutic activities to the independence and well-being of older persons, as well as to the provision of predictable respite for caregivers. We follow the philosophy of Person Centered Care which recognizes that individuals are not defined by disease or disability but by their uniqueness as human beings. We value each person's abilities and acknowledge their contributions. As such, the need for love, comfort, inclusion, identity, occupation and attachment are respected as universal needs throughout life. Activities are focused around the strengths and interests of the individual. Serendipity incorporates these universal needs into every day programming to ensure each guest has many successful interactions throughout their day.

At Hearts and Hands we understand this challenge, and weâ€™re here to help. Since 1999 we have offered a unique style of respite/daycare to clients throughout the Anchorage and Mat-Su area. In addition to typical adult daycare activities such as group games, memory skills building, and light exercising, at Hearts & Hands we also provide many opportunities for recreational field trips. Clients are able to get out of the house for a change of scenery, socialization, and safe, supervised activities within the community. Meanwhile, and just as importantly, primary caregivers can take a break from their normal caretaking duties. Itâ€™s a win-win situation for everybody!

Day Break (Anc Community Mental Health Services) 9210 Jupiter Drive Anchorage AK 99507 (907) 346-2234	Day Break adult Day Services was established in 1982 to serve persons with dementia, Alzheimerâ€™s Disease and related disorders (ADRD) in a social model adult day setting. Priority for enrollment is for those with some degree of dementia (impaired memory, orientation, judgment, etc.). Older adults who are socially isolated, need help during the day or are unsafe to be left alone are also eligible as space is available. The focus is to provide personalized care with the goal of enhancing quality of life for both the member and their family or caregivers. Activities are the foundation of the care we provide. Our staff design activities based on individual desires, needs and abilities with the outcome being day programming that provides care with a personal touch.
