Details: Adult Life Programs is a nonprofit organization 501(c)(3) that began in 1983 in a Sunday school classroom at Corinth Church in Hickory, North Carolina. Much has changed over the years, but Adult Life Programs’ Board of Directors has remained committed to the mission: To provide support, respite and education to caregivers and affordable, quality day and treatment services enabling adults to remain in their communities. Operating since 1992, the Conover Center is Adult Life Programs’ Psychosocial Rehabilitation site. Therapeutic programming is the central focus and an essential aspect of the Conover site. To achieve the goal of PSR, a Person-Centered Plan is developed with each participant, outlining their desired goals and outcomes. Activities to achieve these outcomes vary from person to person; however, they may include: activities of daily living, participant council involvement, community living skills, educational activities, health and wellness promotion, communication activities, cultural activities, personal care, budgeting, interpersonal relations and self-advocacy.
