The Brain Disorder Support Foundation was founded in 2004 as a project of the DeFuniak Springs Pilot Club, with the assistance of 2 matching grants from Pilot International Foundation. In 2006 the Pilot Club relinquished sponsorship of the foundation, and the Board of Directors was reorganized to include individuals from the community with a special interest in service to families affected by neurological disorders. The Board specified that the Foundation would be a faith based organization, and would be supported locally by fundraisers, donations, and grants without strings attached, which would allow it to be totally accountable to the local community and meet those priority needs identified by the community.
